Recycling efforts earn blue ribbon

Upstate University Hospital was the recipient of the Blue Ribbon Recycler Award from the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency, OCRRA. It’s the first hospital to receive the honor in Onondaga County.

Today the hospital recycles 4,000 pounds of stuff per month, up from 1,125 pounds per month just a couple of years ago.

Rob Andrus, our director of environmental health and safety, and David Nettle, a recylcing specialist from OCRRA, recently spoke about the green efforts on Health Link on Air.

This is great! It’s important to see an institution as large as Upstate taking initiative in something like this, it really goes a long way in motivating the community. Keep up the great work!
