Upstate midwives have assembled a team for the annual March of Dimes March for Babies, taking place Oct. 20 on the Onondaga Community College campus.
“Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. Our team is walking in March for Babies because we want to do something about this,” says certified nurse midwife, Heather Shannon, director of the Upstate Midwifery Program. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the 3-mile walk starts at 11 a.m. For details, contact the Central New York division of the March of Dimes at 315-463-0700.
